Key Takeaways
Supply events cluster early in the month. The largest scheduled token unlocks by share of supply fall between October 1 and October 6, led by DoubleZero (2Z) on October 2 and Ethena (ENA) on October 5.
The Fed meeting on October 27 and 28 is the main macro date. It follows the Fed's first rate hike since 2023, announced on September 16, 2026.
Bitcoin ETF flows enter October on a strong run. US spot Bitcoin ETFs turned net positive for 2026 in late September after being roughly $5.8 billion in the red in mid July.
Why a Monthly Crypto Calendar Matters
Crypto markets react to scheduled events. Some are fixed, like a token unlock written into a smart contract or a central bank meeting published a year in advance. Others are targets, like a protocol upgrade that only activates if enough validators support it.
This guide collects the dates that matter for October 2026 in one place. It covers four areas: token unlocks, macro dates, regulatory deadlines, and Bitcoin ETF flows. It explains what each date means and how solid it is. It does not predict prices or tell you what to buy or sell.
All information is current as of September 29, 2026. Dates can move, so always confirm with the primary source before relying on one.

Token Unlocks in October 2026
A token unlock is the scheduled release of tokens that were locked for investors, team members, or validators. Once released, those tokens can be moved or sold. An unlock is not the same as a sale. Whether tokens reach the market depends on who receives them and what they choose to do.
There are two main types:
Linear unlocks release similar amounts on a regular schedule, often monthly. Markets usually expect them.
Cliff unlocks release a large amount on a single date after a lock period ends. These tend to draw more attention.
Scheduled Unlocks Table
Figures below are widely reported estimates from unlock trackers. Dollar values change with price, so the token amount and the share of supply are more reliable measures.

Oct 1 | Sui (SUI) | 64.2M SUI | 1.57% | Linear |
Oct 1 | Worldcoin (WLD) | 37.5M WLD | 1.03% | Linear |

The Three Unlocks to Understand
DoubleZero (2Z), October 2. This is the largest unlock of the month relative to supply. About 1.655 billion 2Z will be released, roughly 47.7% of circulating supply. Reports indicate most recipients are network validators. Tokenomist also reports that the cliff starts a weekly release of roughly 31 million 2Z that runs through 2029.
Ethena (ENA), October 5. In August 2026, the Ethena Foundation changed its schedule so that all remaining investor tokens release on one date instead of monthly. About 1.41 billion ENA will unlock, ending investor vesting around 17 months early. Team and foundation vesting continues on its own schedule. Note that some trackers still show an older, smaller ENA entry in early October, which is a good example of why you should check the project's own announcements.
Hyperliquid (HYPE), October 6. Hyperliquid releases core contributor tokens on the 6th of each month, with about 9.92 million HYPE scheduled. In several past months the team claimed far less than the scheduled amount, so the headline figure is a ceiling rather than a confirmed release.
Macro Dates: The Fed and Inflation Data
Interest rates affect how investors value risk assets, including crypto. On September 16, 2026, the Federal Reserve raised its target range by 0.25 percentage points to 3.75% to 4.00%. It was the first hike since July 2023, and the vote was unanimous. The Fed's projections showed most officials expecting one more increase before year end.
Date (ET) | Release | Why It Is Watched |
|---|---|---|
Oct 7, 2:00 p.m. | Minutes of the September FOMC meeting | Shows the reasoning behind the hike |
Oct 14, 8:30 a.m. | Consumer Price Index (CPI) for September | Main inflation reading before the meeting |
Oct 15, 8:30 a.m. | Producer Price Index (PPI) and retail sales | Additional inflation and demand data |
Oct 28, 2:00 p.m. | FOMC rate decision, then press conference | The main macro event of the month |
A useful principle: markets usually price in the expected outcome well before a meeting. Price reactions tend to come from surprises, meaning the gap between what was expected and what happened.
Regulatory Deadlines and Policy Dates
This section is informational only and is not legal advice.
Jurisdiction | Date | What Happens | Who It Affects Most |
|---|---|---|---|
United Kingdom | Sep 30, 2026 to Feb 28, 2027 | FCA authorisation gateway open for crypto firms | Exchanges, custodians, stablecoin issuers serving UK users |
United States | Oct 19, 2026 | Comment deadline on Treasury's GENIUS Act proposal | Stablecoin issuers and platforms |
United States | Jan 18, 2027 (latest) | GENIUS Act takes effect | Stablecoin issuers |
United States | Nov 3, 2026 | Midterm elections | Future of market structure bills |
European Union | Dec 31, 2026 | First DAC8 reporting year ends | Crypto service providers and their EU customers |
United States: GENIUS Act
The GENIUS Act, signed on July 18, 2025, sets federal rules for payment stablecoins. It takes effect on the earlier of January 18, 2027, or 120 days after regulators issue final rules. Regulators missed the one year rulemaking deadline of July 18, 2026, according to several trackers, which points to January 18, 2027 as the likely start date. On August 17, 2026, Treasury proposed a rule defining what it means to issue or sell a stablecoin "in the United States." Public comments are due October 19. The law does not stop individuals from holding stablecoins.
United States: CLARITY Act
The CLARITY Act aims to divide oversight of crypto markets between the SEC and the CFTC. On September 15, 2026, a Senate procedural vote to open debate reportedly failed 49 to 50, short of the 60 votes needed. The remaining window before a new Congress is the post election session in November and December.
United Kingdom: FCA Gateway
The Financial Conduct Authority opens its crypto authorisation gateway on September 30, 2026. Firms that apply by February 28, 2027 can rely on transitional arrangements. The full regime starts on October 25, 2027. For everyday users, nothing changes in October, but it may affect which platforms serve UK customers later.
European Union: MiCA and DAC8
The MiCA transition period ended on July 1, 2026, so EU crypto service providers now need authorisation to operate. Under the DAC8 tax directive, 2026 is the first reporting year. Providers collect customer transaction data during 2026 and report it in 2027. Local rules vary by member state.
Bitcoin ETF Flows: Where October Starts
ETF flows measure the net money entering or leaving spot Bitcoin ETFs. When investors buy shares, the fund creates new shares and acquires Bitcoin. When they sell, shares are redeemed. Flows are one window into regulated US demand, but they do not predict prices on their own.
September 2026 was the strongest month for flows this year, based on widely reported SoSoValue data.
Period | Net Flow (approx.) | Note |
|---|---|---|
Sep 1 | Minus $236.5M | IBIT led outflows |
Sep 3 | Plus $730.9M | Largest day since January at the time |
Week ending Sep 5 | Plus $986.9M | Third straight week of inflows |
Sep 21 | Plus $998.95M | Largest single day of 2026 |
Week of Sep 21 to 25 | Plus $2.4B | Largest week since October 2025 |
Year to date (late Sep) | About plus $934M | Was near minus $5.8B in mid July |
A few context points for October:
Concentration. BlackRock's IBIT often accounts for most daily flows, so one fund can shape the headline number.
Cost basis. Analysts estimate the average ETF holder's entry price near $82,000. This is an estimate, not a precise figure.
New entrants. Morgan Stanley's MSBT, launched in April 2026, recorded its biggest week in late September.
Beyond Bitcoin. Spot Ether ETFs took in about $690 million in the same week.
To track flows yourself, use daily tables from SoSoValue or Farside Investors, and cross check with issuer websites.
Looking Ahead and What Is Not on This Calendar
A few dates just outside October are worth noting so you can plan ahead:
November 3, 2026: US midterm elections, which may shape whether market structure legislation moves this year.
November 24, 2026: Monad's one year lock on team tokens ends. Trackers disagree on the size, with estimates ranging from roughly 10.7 billion to 16.8 billion MON.
December 8 to 9, 2026: The final FOMC meeting of the year, with updated economic projections.
Some items are left out on purpose. The next Bitcoin halving is not expected until 2028, so it has no bearing on October. We also excluded rumored dates that could not be confirmed with a primary source. If a date only appears on social media, treat it as unverified.
How to Use This Calendar
Filter to what you hold. Most readers only need four or five of these dates.
Check the type. Fixed dates rarely move. Target dates, like protocol upgrades, often do.
Compare unlocks by share of supply. A 47% release and a 1% release are very different events, even if both appear on the same list.
Confirm with primary sources. Use project announcements, official regulator pages, and the Federal Reserve calendar.
Watch time zones. US data releases are in Eastern Time. Many unlocks are listed in UTC.
