How to Check a MiCA License

Match the consumer brand to the exact licensed legal entity, then review the home authority, authorization date, permitted services and host-state notifications in the official record.

What MiCA Authorization Means

MiCA establishes authorization, governance, disclosure and conduct requirements. The services a CASP may provide depend on its individual authorization record.

What It Does Not Guarantee

Authorization does not guarantee solvency, profitability, cybersecurity, recovery from fraud, asset-price stability or availability of every product in every country.

MiCA FAQs

What is a MiCA license?

MiCA is the European Union framework for crypto-assets and crypto-asset service providers. An authorized CASP has received authorization from a competent national authority under that framework.

What is a Crypto-Asset Service Provider?

A CASP is a business authorized to provide one or more recorded services such as custody, operating a trading platform, exchange, execution, advice, portfolio management or transfers.

How can I check whether an exchange has a MiCA authorization?

Search the platform and confirm the exact legal entity, competent authority and official ESMA record. The consumer brand and licensed company name may differ.

Does one MiCA authorization cover the whole EU?

Not automatically. Cross-border service depends on recorded passport notifications, the entity serving the customer, product restrictions and local requirements.

What is MiCA passporting?

Passporting is the notification process through which an authorized provider records its intention to provide services in host states. It is not a separate license.

Is a national VASP registration the same as MiCA authorization?

No. A legacy national registration is not itself an authorization under MiCA.

Does MiCA authorization mean an exchange is safe?

No. Authorization does not guarantee solvency, cybersecurity, asset prices, recovery of losses or suitability for an individual user.

Can a MiCA authorization be suspended or withdrawn?

Yes. The tracker preserves and identifies withdrawal dates reported in the official register rather than presenting those records as active.

Why is the platform brand different from the licensed company name?

Consumers often know a trading name, while the authorization belongs to a separate registered legal entity. This tracker displays both.

What does “no verified authorization found” mean?

It means no MiCA authorization was located in the official sources checked. It does not mean the platform is illegal, fraudulent or banned.

How frequently is this tracker updated?

The tracker checks the official register daily. ESMA currently republishes its interim register weekly, so newly reported national records may appear later.

Can an exchange offer every product in every EU country?

No. Authorized services, passport notifications, local rules and platform restrictions can all limit what is available.

Sources and Methodology

Regulatory status comes from the official ESMA MiCA register, which is supplied by competent national authorities. Official records take precedence over platform announcements and commercial data. The checked-in snapshot retains the source URL, retrieval time, record update date, exact legal entity, LEI, services and host states. Invalid refreshes are rejected so an empty or malformed response cannot replace the last valid snapshot.
