BAYC Discord Hacked, STEPN DDOS Attack, Sao Paulo FC Accepts Crypto

BAYC Discord Hacked
Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and OtherSide Metaverse discord servers got hacked on Saturday morning. The hackers stole 32 NFTs worth 200 ETH, estimated at $360,000, using a phishing attack.
The hackers breached a community manager’s account and used it to post malicious links, luring members with a fake exclusive giveaway. Once the members clicked on the link, the scammers drained their wallets. The stolen NFTs included 1 BAYC, 2 MAYC, 5 Otherdeeds, and 1 BAKC.
The community manager, Boris Vagner, also suffered a loss of 145 ETH from the attack. It is the second time that BAYC’s social media accounts are under attack. Earlier this year, BAYC’s Instagram account suffered a hack. An estimate of about $13 million worth of NFTs were stolen.
STEPN DDoS Attack
STEPN, a popular move to earn an app, suffered multiple distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks this weekend. A DDoS is a cyberattack where the hacker seeks to make a platform unavailable to its intended users by flooding it with useless traffic.
“We have been under multiple DDOS attacks in the past hours. Securing the servers and recovery may take anywhere from 1 to 12 hours. We recommend you take some rest during the maintenance or otherwise the work-outs may not be recorded properly,” reported STEPN on their official Twitter page.
STEPN is a web3 lifestyle app with GameFi aspects, built on the Solana blockchain. Players buy NFT sneakers and run or walk to gain cryptocurrency. It uses a dual token system, GMT is the governance token, and GST is the reward token.
Sao Paulo FC Accepts Crypto
Sao Paulo Football Club, the biggest soccer club in Brazil, allows fans to purchase match tickets using cryptocurrencies. It has partnered up with Bitso, a Mexican cryptocurrency exchange, to facilitate the payments. At the moment, the offer is exclusive to registered fans who hold a membership card.
Sao Paulo FC is the first team to accept cryptocurrency for ticket purchases. The football team first partnered with Bitso in January for a three-year sponsorship. The partnership now extends to ticket purchases to all Sao Paulo’s home matches.
